About a special feature in People Analytics called Insights

Overview

The Insights feature is a background service within People Analytics. It scans your data and runs statistical analyses to help you diagnose and fix issues inside your organization.

Insights are powered by machine learning algorithms that will attempt to discover what's important in your data, by applying models from I/O psychology and behavioral economics.

The purpose of Insights is to help you prevent future organizational problems and pursue opportunities that would otherwise remain unnoticed.

🗝️ To view an Insight, users must have permission for all the Chapters.

How to review your insights

Once People Analytics identifies an actionable insight it will notify you in two places:

  1. Insights tab on your Overview screen

  2. Relevant chapter in the Stories page

Each report is different, but generally each will include:

  • One-sentence summary (e.g. "Significant pay gap between male and female employees")

  • Key numbers that corroborate the insight

  • Explanation of how the insight was generated

  • A list of recommended actions

How are Insights generated?

When generating Insights, our primary concern is to provide you with reliable recommendations.

The process begins with a hypothesis or prediction we want to test. First, we chose the appropriate statistical model that fits the stated goal. Then we perform a preliminary scan to confirm that your data set meets the prerequisites for a valid analysis (as determined by the model). Upon confirmation, the model is deployed. If the analysis yields useful conclusions, it shows up as an insight. Either way, this process ensures that all insights are backed with a high degree of statistical confidence.

The accompanying recommendations are based on academic research and best practices most relevant to the issue at hand.

What kind of Insights can you expect?

Insights are a newly introduced feature. Its scope will keep expanding as the platform grows.

For now, you can count on Insights to reveal pay gap problems in your organization.
