Note: If you have access to Goals (classic), please refer to the guidance in the Individual Goals (classic) import template article for instructions on how to properly populate your import file.

Overview

Account administrators can streamline the setup of individual delivery Goals (new) by filling out our bulk import template, which Culture Amp’s support team will then import on your behalf.

To get started, simply download the template, fill it out with your users' goal information, and reply with "Ask a Person" in a support conversation to share the completed file with a Product Support Specialist. We recommend creating one individual goal in the platform first to help you visualize where each field from the template will appear once imported.

Note: Please provide your completed file in Excel or Google Sheets format. We’ll convert it to CSV for a smooth import. Processing may take up to 14 days.

Limitations

  • Goal types: Only Individual delivery goals can be imported in bulk. Individual development goals or Group goals (Company, Department, or Team) cannot be bulk imported.

  • Editing or deleting goals: Bulk import is limited to creating new goals only. Edits or deletions to existing goals cannot be done via import.

  • Aligning goals: Imported individual delivery goals cannot be aligned to Company, Team, or Department goals as part of the import process. Alignments should be set manually in the platform after the import.

  • Additional owners: Additional goal owners or key result owners cannot be assigned through the import process. These can be set manually in the platform after the import.

  • Key result types: Only percentage-based (simple %) current completion rates can be imported. Numeric types and additional metrics should be manually set in the platform post-import.

Preparing the import file

A Google Sheets template is available here to guide you through formatting. Below is a breakdown of required columns and the specific values for each:

Column header

Description

email

Goal owner’s email. Each row should contain a unique email for an active user in your account.

name

Name of the goal.

description

Description of the goal.

visibility

Options: manager, everyone, individuals. Case sensitive, no quotation marks. “manager” option is the same as “private” visibility option.

individual_emails

Emails of users with goal visibility set to "individuals" (separate emails by a semicolon ;). Goal owner does not need to be included here. Emails listed must belong to active users.

due_at

Due date in YYYY-MM-DD format.

created_at

Creation date in YYYY-MM-DD format. Should be current or past date; future dates default to import date.

status

Options: created, blocked, accomplished. Case-sensitive, no quotation marks. (Once imported, created displays as "In Progress"; blocked as "Off Track"; accomplished as "Completed")

completion

Completion percentage as a value between 0.0 and 1.0 (e.g., 0.65 = 65%). Must only be in increments of 5%. Only needed if no key results are added.

key_result_#_title

Key result title. Must contain non-numeric values.

key_result_#_completion

Completion percentage for each key result (between 0.0 and 1.0). Must only be in increments of 5%.

Tip: To add additional key results, increment the key result number in the column header. For example: key_result_2_title, key_result_2_completion.
