Who can use this feature?

Available on:

  • All Culture Amp subscriptions that include Engagement or Effectiveness

You can use a survey that has already been designed or used at your organization by duplicating.

To duplicate:

  1. From the Surveys page locate the survey you would like to duplicate.

  2. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the survey name and select Duplicate.

Tip: Surveys can also be created using the Create survey button.

What Comes With a Duplicated Survey

When you duplicate a survey, certain elements of the original survey will be copied over with it. These include:

  • Survey title (Note: A suffix like "Jan 2021" or "v2" may be added to the end of the title to ensure it does not match the original title)

  • Survey design: the questions from the original survey

  • Demographics: the demographics you selected to be included in reports for the original survey

  • Reporting settings: the reporting rules, Raw Data Extract selection, and factors you configured

  • Communication settings: any customization you made to the notifications sent as part of your survey

  • Configuration for shared reports: shared reports you created and report owners and viewers you assigned (Note that all shared reports will be unpublished in the new, duplicated survey)

What will not be copied over:

  • Survey participants: the employees you selected to participate in the original survey

  • Survey admin permissions: Only full Account Administrators will automatically appear on the duplicated survey, as they already have access to all surveys by default.

  • Launch plan: the dates you configured for the original survey's launch

  • Survey logo

  • Benchmarks

Before Copying an Existing Survey

We recommend that you:

  • Review the feedback that survey participants gave about the old survey, to see if there are improvements that can be made to the survey length, language, etc. To request survey feedback, just reply with "Ask a Person" in a Support Conversation to speak with a Product Support Specialist. They can send you the Feedback Digest report for a specific survey.

  • Review the survey results from the old survey. Did you get the data you needed? Should you edit select options for the multiple-choice questions? Were the demographic-based filters useful - do you need different filters?

'Failed to duplicate survey' Error

If you're seeing an error when trying to duplicate a survey using the steps in this guide, it's likely due to a permissions issue. In most cases, this means duplicating surveys isn’t included in the access level assigned to your profile.

For example, if you've been added as a survey administrator for a specific survey, you may have permissions to manage that survey, but not to create new ones. Duplicating a survey is considered creating a new survey, so this action would be restricted.

We recommend reaching out to an internal account administrator to confirm that you have the correct permissions to duplicate or create a new survey. If you believe you should have access but are still seeing an error, you can type 'ask a person' in a support conversation for further assistance.
