Why Manager-requested feedback matters
Manager-requested feedback (MRF) is exactly what it sounds like: it’s the part of Culture Amp that allows managers to request feedback about your direct reports from other individuals. Since managers can’t be in all places at once, this can give managers insight into an employee’s performance and experience that the manager wouldn’t have on their own. This guide will walk you through the steps to request that feedback outside of a performance review cycle.
How to request feedback
You can request feedback about your direct reports anytime through the platform.
Navigate to feedback requests
Go to Feedback > Anytime feedback > Requests (under Direct reports).
Click Request feedback
To start, click Request feedback. If a performance review cycle is currently underway, you’ll be prompted to confirm whether you'd like to request feedback as part of that ongoing cycle, or request it separately outside the cycle.
Select a Direct Report
Choose the direct report you’d like to gather feedback on. Your direct reports will appear in a list on the right side of the screen. You can scroll or use the search bar to find the person you want feedback for.
Tip: You can expand the list by clicking the arrow at the top.
Add reviewers
Add reviewers by typing their name or email in the Request from field. You’ll see smart suggestions based on their interactions with your direct report.
Customizing feedback questions
Review or edit question templates
If your Account Admin has set up default templates, they will automatically be applied based on the type of feedback. For example:
Upward feedback: Used if you're requesting feedback from the direct reports of the individual.
Peer feedback: Used when gathering feedback from peers (this includes indirect reports).
If you add a combination of peers and direct reports to the same request, the template defaults to the peer feedback questions.
While default questions may be provided, the questions can still be edited to reflect the unique context of your team or the specific situation.
Send feedback request
Click Send request to trigger the feedback process. Reviewers will receive a task notification once the request is sent. They can access this in their Tasks list.
Withdrawing Manager-requested feedback
In some cases, you may need to withdraw a feedback request. When you do this, the task is removed from the reviewer’s Tasks list, and they will no longer be prompted to provide feedback.
How to withdraw a feedback request
Navigate to Feedback > Anytime feedback > requests (under Direct Reports).
Click the arrow next to the direct report to expand their list of feedback requests.
Find the request you want to remove and click the “X” icon to delete it.

Comments can only be added by the Manager or the reviewer (i.e not Admins/Perform HRBPs or the subject - if the feedback was shared with them).

Comments are visible to the manager and the reviewer as you’d expect, but additionally Admins & Perform HRBPs can see them when they view the Manager- requested feedback from their Admin view.
