An overview of the Onboarding survey template types

Who is this guide for?

Account Admins, Survey Creators

Onboarding starts when a new hire accepts your offer and continues through a new employee's first weeks, months and even a year on the job. It encompasses everything you do to get new employees what they need when they need it so they can get up to speed and contribute quickly.

Culture Amp has templates to cover off a phased, 2 step onboarding survey approach and a single point onboarding survey.

Phased Onboarding Surveys

There are 2 templates in this approach. The Phased Week 1 template covers logistics. Has the new hire filled out all of their paperwork? Are they enrolled in benefits? Do they have a desk, computer, and access to necessary software? It also covers off items around the recruitment experience and the employee’s decision to join the company while it’s still fresh in their mind!

The Phased Week 5 template goes into more detail about the employee’s initial experience with your company. Are they feeling settled, equipped and supported to fulfil their role? This template also covers new employees’ sense of belonging on their team and in their alignment with the organization.

Single Point Onboarding Survey

The Single Point Onboarding Template combines the items in the phased approach into one template. Recommended timeframe for this survey is 30 days from the new employee’s start date. This can be useful for companies who are transitioning to the phased approach above.

Note: By taking this approach, some tactical elements of an employee’s onboarding experience might not be picked up in time for the manager/company to do something meaningful to fix or change that employee’s experience.
