Performance Insights allows you to explore your Performance rating scale data and custom rating scale data through vizualisations in your Performance Review Cycle.
There are two types of vizualisations at the moment in Performance Insights:
Performance rating by demographic
Custom rating scale data
Insights are available for individual cycles to see the distribution of employees by each performance group. To view insights, click on Performance > Insights and select the cycle you would like to view using the the dropdown menu:
Note: To be valid in Performance insights, a review cycle needs:
A performance rating question for the Performance rating by demographic visualization.
A performance rating question and a rating scale question, or a minimum of two rating scale questions, for the Custom rating scale visualization. These questions reside within the Manager Review unit.
Note: The Performance Insights report can only be used for manager review ratings. Self-Reflection and peer & upward feedback data are not available in this view.
Company overview visualisation
When you select a review cycle, the first graph you see will be your Company Overall for that specific cycle. This visualization shows the performance rating data by percentage of employees.
You can view this information in a tabular format by toggling between Chart and Table views.
Performance rating by demographic
The Select Demographic option allows you to view your data by the demographic you select and discover where to focus your efforts.
To group by your demographics
At the top of the Percentage Distribution of Employees by Performance Rating section, you'll find the Group by [demographic] option. Use this to see your performance rating data within specific demographics like Manager or Department.
Remember, Performance Insights uses your overall Account Demographics, not your mapped performance demographics.
Custom rating scale data
Axis drop-down menus
There are two axis to this vizualisation.
On the Vertical Axis you’ll be able to select from either the Performance rating question or Rating scale questions. While on the Horizontal axis you’ll be able to only select from Rating scale questions. (Rating scale questions can be custom or one of our default questions e.g “This person is ready for a promotion today”)
Filter by demographics
To filter, use the Select Demographic Filter, pick a group like Department, and select a value, for example, 'CA Engineering' to see specific results. At the moment, you can only select one demographic at a time to filter by; it is not possible to stack multiple demographics for Performance Insights.
Note: Performance Insights uses your overall Account Demographics, not your mapped performance demographics, and these will be reflective of the demographics your participants were assigned at the time of the cycle launch.
Exploring your data in more detail
If you click on the individual circle shown on the Axis view, there will be a Sidebar that displays all the people that fall into the specific segment.
Note: While there isn’t currently a way to share overall performance insights directly within the platform, you can use the Export option to download the insights as a PNG file, which can then be shared externally.
FAQs

How quickly does the data take to update?
Performance Insights is designed to keep your review data up to date. Many changes appear very quickly, but some can take up to 24 hours to show in the charts and tables.

Managers submitting or editing manager reviews (including performance ratings and rating scale answers)
Changes to HRBP scoping
Updates that can take up to 24 hours
Employees being added to or removed from a cycle (you'll see these changes in your performance review cycle straight away, but it can take up to 24 hours for those employees and their ratings to appear or disappear in Performance Insights and demographic groupings)
Changes to employee demographics (including sensitive demographics), where a demographic or demographic value is changed
Examples of demographic changes:
Demographic example: Department is renamed to Bureau
Demographic value example: Product is renamed to Product & Design
Why do demographics look different on older cycles?
Why do demographics look different on older cycles?
For each performance cycle, Performance Insights shows employee demographics as they were when the cycle was launched, so past cycles stay consistent over time. Other areas of Performance (like cycle dashboards and Calibration views) still use your current demographics, which may look different from what you see in Insights for older cycles.
Some examples:
You renamed a demographic value from "Product" to "Product & Design" this year. In Performance Insights for last year's cycle, people will still appear under "Product" because it reflects how the value looked when that cycle was launched.
An employee moved from Marketing to Product & Design after last year's review. In Performance Insights for last year's cycle, they'll still show under Marketing, even though in your current Performance views, they now appear in Product & Design.
