Fetch API key from BambooHR

The recommended way to proceed is to first create a Non-Employee User, to give that user a Custom Access Level and then generate API keys on that userā€™s account. Please take the steps described below to achieve this.

Set up a Non-Employee User

  1. Log in to your BambooHR account (make sure that you have admin privileges)

  2. Go to the Settings page (āš™ļø in the top right corner) and open the Access levels tab

  3. Click the plus symbol and select the Custom Access Level option

  4. Name the access level (ā€œPeople Analytics integrationā€) and click Next

  5. Skip the second What Can People with this Access Level Do step

  6. On the third step, set ALL segments (Personal, Job, Time off etc.) to View Only and click Save

  7. Now click the āš™ļø dropdown in the top right corner and select Add a Non-Employee BambooHR User

  8. Fill the form in and from the Access Level dropdown, select the level that you created previously (ā€People Analytics integrationā€)

  9. Check your email inbox and finish creating the account.

Generate API keys

  1. Log in as a Non-Employee User (account that you just created)

  2. From the upper right menu (avatar icon), go to API keys

  3. Click the + Add New Key button

  4. Give it a meaningful name (People Analytics for example)

  5. Generate the key

  6. You'll get a key that should look similarly to this: cf2bc2722153989568759fcafd0b6d3b9534ce6e

  7. Copy the key!

  8. Keep the browser tab with BambooHR open. You will need it to copy the domain name for the second part of the process.

Enable BambooHR Integration

  1. In People Analytics, in the top right corner click your name, then go to My Profile

  2. At the bottom of the My Profile page, you'll see the Connected Apps section. Choose BambooHR and click Connect

  3. Paste your BambooHR API key into the first field of the connection form.

  4. Next, go back to your BambooHR account and copy your BambooHR domain name from the browserā€™s address bar (thatā€™s the main part of the URL, for example, in this case itā€™s people analytics https://**peopl-eanalytics**.bamboohr.com/).

  5. Paste the domain name into the second field of the connection form.

  6. Click Connect BambooHR.

Your People Analytics profile is now connected with BambooHR.

People Analytics will start fetching the data right away. The process will take a while to complete. Its duration varies depending on the number of things you track and their health.

Once itā€™s done, you will be all set to start exploring your people metrics. šŸ„³
