Note:

  • If you're new to Culture Amp or Goals and don’t have Goals (classic), you'll automatically get access to Goals (new) starting July 1, 2024. Check our Early Access Program support guide for details on key dates, feature comparisons with Goals (classic), and FAQs.

  • If you don’t see “(new)” next to Goals in the drop-down menu, your organization might still be using Goals (classic). In that case, refer to our Goals (classic) support guide for guidance on creating goals.

If you're new to using Goals (new), this Admin guide will help you get started with setting up your organizational structure and assigning goal creators for group goals. This will allow you to effectively manage and track goals within your organization.

Before you begin

If you're new to Performance or Goals (new), follow this checklist to ensure your account is set up for Goals (new). If you've previously used Performance or Goals (classic), it's likely you've already completed these steps so you can skip ahead to the Creating an Organization Structure section.

  1. Manager Email: Ensure your data includes Manager Email (or an equivalent demographic like Supervisor Email) for most employees.

  2. Valid Hierarchy: Set up a valid hierarchy. This hierarchy will be re-validated during any user import to ensure it stays updated and accurately reflects your reporting lines for Goals (new). Without a validated hierarchy, manager-level visibility features won't work. For setup steps, see our Add Your Hierarchy support guide.

  3. Employee Data: Ensure your employee data includes the demographic groups you want to build your organization structure with. See our Employee Data File Template for guidance.

  4. Enable Collaborations: Make sure "Collaborations" (formerly known as Teams) is enabled in your account so your team can create Collaboration groups and goals. To get this feature activated, simply reply with "ask a person" in a support conversation to connect with a specialist.

1. Create an organizational structure

Your organization's structure, or org structure, is an important aspect of using Goals (new). It allows you to add the structure of your organization to Culture Amp using the demographics in your employee data. This structure can then be used to classify and align goals across your organization.

To set up your org structure, use employee demographics to segment your company. For step-by-step instructions, check our Organization Structure support guide. To understand how employee data uploads affect your org structure, review the How Employee Data Affects Organization Structure guide.

With your org structure in place, you can assign goal creators to different units. This allows these employees to set goals for their respective groups.

2. Assigning goal creators for group goals

Once your organizational structure is established, you can grant employees permission to create group goals by assigning them the goal creator role for specific org units, e.g. a department.

Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to the Account Settings Goals Page

    • Go to Settings > Account and select the Goals page.

  2. Expand Organizational Units

    • Use the drop-down arrow to expand the list of organizational units.

  3. Assign the Goal Creator Role

    • Click Add goal creator beside the desired Org Unit.

    • In the Choose People drop-down, type the employee's name.

    • You can add more than one employee if needed.

    • Click Save to finalize the role assignment.

Note: No notification is sent to Users assigned as a Goal Creator.
