Feature Overview
The Heatmap Explorer helps you quickly understand the story behind your survey results. When you click on any cell in your survey heatmap, a panel opens to show additional insights like participation rates, favorability scores, trends over time, demographic differences, and comment summaries. This allows you to explore deeper insights without leaving your current view.
Why Use Heatmap Explorer?
See Relevant Insights Instantly: View data like participation, score breakdowns, and AI-powered summaries right where you're looking.
Stay in Context: No need to switch between report pages—everything loads right inside the heatmap.
Save Time: Spot trends, answer questions, and explore demographic differences faster.
How To Use Heatmap Explorer
Open your report and go to the Heatmap page.
Click any cell in the heatmap.
The Heatmap Explorer panel will open on the right with insights specific to what you clicked.
Depending on what you click, you may see:
Participation rate
Favorability score breakdowns (favorable, neutral, unfavorable)
Trends over time
Recommended focus areas
Demographic insights (such as largest spread/variance)
AI comment summaries (for questions and demographics)
AI comment comparisons
Note: The Explorer surfaces data that already exists in other report views—it doesn’t add or hide anything. You’ll only see insights that are relevant to the cell you clicked.

Troubleshooting/FAQs
Why do I see different data when clicking different cells?
Heatmap Explorer surfaces only the insights that are relevant to what you clicked. For example, AI comment summaries are shown for questions and demographics—but not for factors.
Can I export the Heatmap Explorer?
Not yet—exporting isn’t currently available. A PDF export option is coming soon. In the meantime, we recommend taking a screenshot of the view you’d like to save or share.
Is this available for Experience or Lifecycle surveys?
No, Heatmap Explorer is only available for Attributed (Snapshot) surveys. It doesn’t support Experience, Lifecycle (like Onboarding or Exit), or Unattributed surveys.
Why can’t I see certain data points?
If something’s missing—like AI comment summaries or comparisons—it might be because:
Your access is limited (e.g., you’re viewing a shared report)
An admin didn’t enable those insights in the Report Sharing set up.
The insight only appears for certain types of questions or factors

Is language support available for this feature?
Yes, the platform includes built-in multilingual support—translations are integrated directly into the user interface. Learn more about our Supported Languages in Culture Amp.
What isn’t included in Heatmap Explorer?
Some data is still only available in other parts of your survey report. Heatmap Explorer doesn’t include:
Comparisons to external benchmarks
Visual charts showing the demographic spread of scores.
Impact scores for questions
User-flagged focus questions
Recommended focus areas for small demographic groups (less than 25 responses)
A full list of all comments per question
Anything I should keep in mind?
Heatmap Explorer doesn’t add or remove any data—it simply makes existing report insights easier to access and view in context.
Can I turn off Heatmap Explorer?
No, Heatmap Explorer is a built-in feature and can’t be turned off at the account level. However, you can choose not to show the Heatmap in a shared report if needed by choosing a different report type.
Does it work for past surveys?
Yes! You can use Heatmap Explorer with both live and closed historical surveys—as long as they’re Attributed (Snapshot) type.
Is Heatmap Explorer available in the Custom Heatmap?
Yes, Heatmap Explorer is available when using Custom Heatmap reports.
