Who can use this feature?

Available on:

  • All Culture Amp subscriptions that include Engagement or Effectiveness (Manager and Team Effectiveness surveys).

Creating a filtered report allows you to tailor the feedback shared based on specific demographics and report settings.

Tip: Set up filtered reports before your survey launches to streamline data access. Learn more about preparing reports in advance.

Create a filtered report

1. Navigate to the Surveys Configuration page

  • From your surveys configuration page, click the Sharing tab.

2. Start creating a filtered report

  • Click Create a filtered report.

3. Configure report details

  • Update the Title: Enter a title for your report.

  • Add a Description (optional): Provide additional context if needed.

Tip: Each report name must be unique within a survey. This includes using the same report name as a deleted report in the same survey. To avoid any issues, prior to deleting a report we recommend updating its title to Deleted [Report Name] or similar.

4. Select an anchor demographic

  • Choose the anchor demographic from the drop-down menu to filter your report by specific groups.

  • If creating a demographic variation report, select multiple demographics you would like to combine for the report.

5. Choose report type

  • Summary: High-level overview of results. Commonly shared with employees.

  • Standard: Detailed results. Commonly shared with managers.

  • Advanced: Comprehensive analysis. Commonly shared with Execs and HRBP.

6. Configure report options

  • Take Action: Decide if report viewers should have access to the action framework by selecting or unselecting the checkbox.

  • Comments: Choose if viewers should have access to the Comments report.

  • AI Comment Summaries: If you choose the Standard or Advanced report type, you can decide if viewers should see AI-generated comment summaries.

  • AI Comment Comparisons: If you choose the Advanced report type, you can decide if viewers should have access to AI-generated comment comparisons.

  • Enable additional filtering: Allow report viewers to filter results further by selecting the appropriate filters.

Note: You won’t be able to enable a demographic as a report filter if the report is already based on that same demographic. For example, if your report is based on Manager ID, you can’t also add Manager ID as an additional filter. This applies to any demographic used as the base for the report (like Department, Location, etc.).

Tip: If you can't locate a demographic to enable as a specific report filter, it's likely the demographic has not yet been imported to your account. Review your Account Demographics page to ensure it exists at the account level. If you can't see it on that page, you'll need to add it to your account via import or HRIS sync.

If the survey is already live or closed, you will need to request a demographic refresh to have the new demographic added as an option to include on the survey.

7. Finalize and create the report

  • Click Create draft to finalize.

8. Editing a report

  • To make changes, select More > Edit configuration. Edits can be made at any time, whether the report is published or unpublished.

  • Click Save changes to finalize the updates.

Note: Report settings such as filters, report type, and report options can be edited at any stage, even after the survey is live or closed. Any changes you make will apply immediately for all viewers with access to the report, without needing to re-share it.

9. Previewing a report

You can preview a report before it is published to ensure you've included the correct reporting elements in the configuration. To get started, locate any unpublished report and click the Preview button next to it.

  • The Viewer’s Perspective: Previewing allows you to see the report exactly as a viewer would, including aggregated response data, participation numbers, and included filters.

  • Draft Survey Considerations: If you are previewing while a survey is still in Draft mode, keep in mind that participant numbers and reporting lines may not be 100% accurate. This is because employee data and hierarchies are only "locked in" at the moment of launch, so it is using demonstration data.

  • Live or Closed Surveys: For surveys that are already Live or Closed, the preview will reflect the exact data your viewers see.

  • Admin-Only Elements: Note that even in Preview mode, you may still see certain administrative buttons (such as the 'View Responses' button on Onboard or Exit surveys) that will not be visible to standard report viewers.
