Insights Explorer is the panel that opens alongside your Insight report or Questions report when you select a single factor or a single question. It shows the participation rate, favorable score, comparison, trend and demographic detail for that one item.
If you already use the Heatmap Explorer, this is the same panel, with the content suited to these two reports.
Open Insights Explorer from the Insight or Questions report
Open your survey report and go to Insight or Questions.
Apply the filters and choose the comparison you want to read the data against.
Select the factor or question you want to explore.
On Insight, select a tile under Key factors, a row in the Other factors table, or a question in the rating questions block near the top of the report.
On Questions, select any row in the questions table.
Read the detail in the panel. The factor or question you selected is named at the top.
The rating questions block near the top of the Insight report shows the questions with the greatest impact on your index factor, or, where impact is not available, the questions with the highest favorable score. It shows up to five of them. To reach a question that is not among them, select View all rating questions in the block, or go to the Questions report and select the question there.
Inside the panel, some of the detail is shown straight away and the rest sits behind headings. Select a heading to open that section as a full view in the panel, then go back to return to the main view. Use the close button to close the panel.
What Insights Explorer shows for a factor
The panel shows this as soon as it opens:
Participation rate and favorable score: the participation rate with the number of responses out of the total, for example 90% (46 of 51), the favorable score, and the comparison figure with an arrow for the direction of the difference.
Trend: how the factor has scored across surveys. A trend needs the factor to have been included in more than one past survey, and on a live survey it becomes available once the survey closes. It is not shown for an eNPS factor.
Below that are the headings you select to open a fuller view in the panel:
Questions: the rating questions in that factor, with their impact, favorable score and comparison, listed by favorable score from highest to lowest with no sort control.
If your filtered group has fewer responses than the minimum needed for a reliable impact rating, a note above the list, on Questions and on Recommended focus areas, tells you that the impact rating is based on the company overall while the other results follow the filters you have applied. How Impact is Determined covers how impact is calculated.
Recommended focus areas: the questions recommended as focus areas. This heading appears when you open your index factor or one of your key factors, and not for other kinds of factor.
Spread of scores by demographic: how the factor scored across your demographics. This heading appears when your report has demographics to break the scores down by, and it is not shown for an eNPS factor.
š” Tip: To read the same questions in another order, use the Questions report. Every column there sorts except Trend.
What Insights Explorer shows for a question
When you open a question, the panel is headed with the question and names its factor underneath. As soon as it opens, it shows the Participation rate and favorable score block, including the comparison, in the same form as for a factor.
Trend shows how the question has scored across surveys. It needs the question to have been included in more than one past survey, and on a live survey it becomes available once the survey closes. It is not shown for an eNPS question.
The headings you select to open a fuller view are:
Spread of scores by demographic, on the same two conditions as for a factor: your report has demographics to break the scores down by, and the question is not an eNPS question.
AI comment summaries, when the question has 5 or more meaningful comments and AI comment summaries are turned on for the report. Read AI Comment Summaries in Engagement Results for what counts as a meaningful comment.
View all comments sits at the foot of the panel when a question has comments but no summary, and your report includes the Comments report. It opens that question's comments in a new tab. You get it when the question has 1 to 4 comments, or when AI comment summaries are turned off for your report. Where a summary is available the link moves inside the AI comment summaries view instead, and a question with no comments at all gets neither a summary nor the link.
A question does not have a Recommended focus areas heading. That belongs to factors.
In the questions table, an AI indicator appears beside the comment count when AI comment summaries are turned on for the report and that question has enough comments for a summary. The count is not a link, so select the question row to open the panel.
Free-text questions are not listed in the rating questions table. To read their summaries, go to the Free Text Questions tab on the Questions report and select a question there. The panel opens straight onto that question's comment summaries.
Read the spread of scores by demographic
Collapsed, the section lists your demographics in alphabetical order. Each one shows its spread as a percentage, with a bar marking the lowest and the highest favorable score on a scale of 0 to 100. A demographic with only one score shows no spread figure and no bar.
Select a demographic to expand it. Its values are listed from the lowest to the highest favorable score, each with its own favorable score and the number of responses behind it, shown as "n =" and a number.
View Heatmap, at the foot of an expanded demographic, opens the Heatmap in a new tab.
Export one factor or question as a PDF
Open the factor or question in the panel.
Select the download icon in the panel header.
The PDF covers the whole factor or question, not only the section you have open. For a factor it includes the participation rate and favorable score, the trend, the questions in the factor, the recommended focus areas where they apply, and the spread of scores by demographic. For a question it includes the participation rate and favorable score, the trend, the spread of scores by demographic, and its AI comment summaries when it has them. The filters and the comparison you have applied are carried into the file.
A single factor or question can no longer be exported as an image (.png) from these two reports. Use the panel's PDF export, or a report-level export, instead. Image export elsewhere in Culture Amp is not affected.
The report's own Export menu is separate and exports the whole report. Depending on how your report is set up and what you have permission to export, that menu can contain Print, Acrobat (.pdf), Excel (.xls), Comma separated (.csv), Raw data extract (.csv)⦠and Build PowerPoint (.ppt). Print is the only item that does not also depend on your own permissions, so your menu can be shorter than a colleague's on the same survey. See Survey Export Options for what each format contains.
Scroll the questions table on the Questions report
The questions table scrolls inside itself. To reach the last rows, scroll inside the table rather than down the page. The column headings stay in place as you scroll, and printing the report includes every row, not just the rows on screen.
Move between views in the panel and share what you are reading
You can open one of a factor's questions from inside the panel, and step back to the factor when you have finished. You can do this from a factor's Questions view or from its Recommended focus areas view.
Step back one view: a back control appears at the top of the panel. It is not there when you have just opened a factor or question from the report, only once you have opened something from inside the panel.
Use your browser's back button: it retraces the steps you took inside the panel.
Share or bookmark what you are reading: copy the address from your browser's address bar. It carries the factor or question you have open and the filters you applied. Anyone you send it to needs to be able to open the report themselves, and what opens for them can differ from what you see if their own access differs from yours.
ā¹ļø Note: Opening a factor or question closes Coach if you had it open. Open Coach again once you have finished reading the detail.
Close the panel and keep your filters
Select the close button in the panel to close it. Your filters and your comparison stay applied to the report.
The panel also closes on its own when you:
Move to another report,
Switch between the Rating Questions, Free Text Questions and Multiple Choice Questions tabs, or
Change the comparison on the Questions report.
Your filters stay applied, so select the factor or question again to reopen the detail.
Troubleshooting
Nothing happens when you select a factor tile
Try another tile, or a row in the Other factors table. If those open the panel, that factor's score is not statistically significant and it cannot be opened, which is expected behavior rather than a fault. If nothing anywhere on the report opens the panel, contact our Product Support team.
The panel shows Coach instead of your factor or question
Close Coach in that panel, then select the factor or question again. If your account uses Coach, it opens in the same panel as Insights Explorer and takes that space, including when it opens by itself.
The report shows Confidentiality protection instead of results
Widen or clear your filters, then select the factor or question again. The Confidentiality protection notice replaces the results on the report, because the results for your current filter selection are hidden to prevent individuals and small groups from being identified, and it states the number of responses a group needs before results are shown. While that notice is showing there are no tiles or rows to open, so the panel cannot be opened until your filter selection includes enough responses.
A question has comments but no AI comment summary
Check the comment count on the question. A summary needs 5 or more meaningful comments. Below that the panel offers no AI comment summaries heading at all: with 1 to 4 comments, use View all comments at the foot of the panel to read them, and with no comments there is no link either. A free-text question opened from the Free Text Questions tab opens straight onto the summaries view and names the reason there: No AI comment summaries found with 1 to 4 comments, or No comments for this question when there are none.
