🔐 Who can use this feature?
Roles: All users, once an account administrator has turned the connection on for your organization.
Subscriptions: Any
Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your own Culture Amp account to ask about your 1-on-1s, (engagement survey results, and performance feedback coming soon). The connection uses your existing Culture Amp sign-in, so the assistant only sees data you already have permission to view.
Connect your AI assistant
Each user completes this setup once for themselves. Claude and ChatGPT are currently supported, with additional tools coming over time.
Add Custom Connector: In Claude or ChatGPT, find the option to add a custom connector and paste the full connection address provided by your administrator.
Sign In: On the Culture Amp screen that appears, sign in using your standard organization credentials using one of the sign-in options your organization has already set up, such as Google or your Culture Amp email and password.
Authorize Access: Review the permission prompt ("Access and update Culture Amp data") and approve.
Start Prompting: Begin asking your AI assistant about your survey results, performance feedback, or 1-on-1s.
What you can ask about your engagement survey results (coming soon)
If your organization uses Engage, you can ask Claude or ChatGPT to:
Find your surveys: find your engagement, pulse, and check-in surveys.
See participation and scores: for the whole company or narrowed to a group such as a location, department, or your own team.
Ask what's driving a result: and where the survey's focus areas suggest paying attention.
See question-level answers: see how people answered a multiple-choice question.
Compare scores: compare a score against the comparisons that survey's report already offers, such as a benchmark, or see how it has changed since the last survey
💬 Try asking:
"Draft talking points for our executive team on the latest engagement survey, with the numbers behind each point."
"How is [team] tracking in the latest engagement survey, compared with the last survey and with the company? Show the biggest rises and falls at question level, then group them into themes."
"Show engagement for [department], [department] and [department], each split into under 1 year, 1 to 4 years and 4+ years of tenure. Flag any group withheld for confidentiality."
"Show me how our [performance rating] employees answered this survey."
What the assistant can't reach in your Engagement results
What the assistant can't reach in your Engagement results
Only engagement, pulse, and check-in surveys: draft surveys, and onboarding, exit, and 360 surveys aren't available through this connection yet.
Read-only: the assistant can see survey results, but it can't change a report's filters, sharing, or anything else about a survey.
Only what Reports already shows you: You see the same surveys and results you can see in Reports. If you're an account administrator, that's every survey that's launched, and otherwise it's the surveys whose reports have been shared with you. A report shared with you as a summary or participation view still only opens in Culture Amp; the assistant can't read those two view types. The same confidentiality rules apply as everywhere else in Culture Amp: a result with too few responses to protect anonymity is withheld, not shown with a smaller group.
Comments: open-text comments aren't available through this connection yet
What you can ask about your performance feedback (coming soon)
If your organization runs performance reviews in Culture Amp, you can ask Claude or ChatGPT to:
Pull together feedback and context: gather feedback and profile information to help you prepare for a conversation or review, such as peer feedback, upward feedback, self-reflection, past manager reviews, and anytime feedback, for yourself or for one of your direct reports.
Find the right person: find a specific person by name or email, or list your direct reports, so you can point it at the right person.
💬 Try asking:
"Pull together the feedback [name] has received this year to help me prepare for their review."
"Pull together the feedback I've received this year so I can prepare for my own review."
"List my direct reports, and pull together [name]'s feedback from the past few months to help me prepare for their review."
What the assistant can't reach in Performance
What the assistant can't reach in Performance
Past feedback and context only, not a review in progress: the assistant can pull together self-reflection, peer feedback, upward feedback, past manager reviews, and anytime feedback, but it can't list, open, or show the questions and answers on a review that's currently being written.
Read-only: the assistant can retrieve feedback and context to help you prepare, but it can't write or save anything back. You always write and submit a review yourself in Culture Amp.
Only your own feedback, or your direct reports': it can't reach anyone else's performance information, even if you can find that person by name.
What you can ask about your 1-on-1 conversations
Once you've connected, you can also ask Claude or ChatGPT to:
Find your conversations: find or list your 1-on-1 conversations, optionally narrowed to a person's name or to a relationship such as your manager, a direct report, or a colleague.
View an agenda: show the agenda for a specific 1-on-1, including open topics, open action items, and anything completed in about the last month.
Add a topic: add a new agenda topic, with an optional note giving more detail.
Add an action item: add one, and assign it to either participant in the conversation.
Add a note: add a note to a topic.
Mark a topic discussed: mark an agenda topic as discussed, or mark it as not discussed if you did that by mistake.
Mark an action item complete: mark it as complete, or mark it as incomplete if you did that by mistake.
💬 Try asking:
"What's on my 1:1 agenda with [name], and can you add a topic?"
"Show me my 1-on-1 conversations with my mentees."
"Mark [topic] as discussed in my 1-on-1 with [name]."
What the assistant can't reach in 1-on-1 conversations
What the assistant can't reach in 1-on-1 conversations
Only your own 1-on-1s: the assistant can only work with conversations you're personally a participant in, whichever side of the conversation you're on. It can't see a 1-on-1 you aren't part of, such as a direct report's 1-on-1 with a different manager.
Can add notes, but can't read them back: when you ask for an agenda, the assistant sees the topics and action items on it, including which ones are done, but not the text of notes already saved on them. You can ask it to add a note, but asking it to summarize or pull up your existing notes won't work.
Notes added this way aren't Personal Notes: when the assistant adds a note, it adds the shared note that both people in the 1-on-1 can see. It isn't the separate, more private Personal Notes feature, and the assistant can't create, read, or touch Personal Notes at all.
Adding a topic this way isn't an Assigned Topic: when you ask the assistant to add a topic, it adds an ordinary agenda topic, the same as if you'd typed it in yourself. This is different from Assigned Topics, which schedules topics based on demographics and is managed by an administrator. If an Assigned Topic is already on your agenda, it shows up like any other topic and can be marked as discussed.
Limitations
Your data is shared with the AI tool you connect: whatever you ask about (survey results, performance feedback, or 1-on-1s) is shared with whichever AI tool you connect. For how that provider handles it once it reaches the assistant, refer to that provider's own privacy policy.
Very heavy use can be slowed down: limits are in place to keep the service reliable for everyone, so a burst of many requests in a few seconds can be temporarily slowed. Normal day-to-day use won't reach them.
You'll be asked to sign in again from time to time: a connection you haven't used for a few days, or one you've had for about a month, will ask you to sign in again regardless. Sign in again and the connection carries on where it left off.
Troubleshooting
Connection fails or returns "not found": Re-copy and paste the full connection address provided to you. Truncated addresses are the primary cause of connection failures.
Culture Amp doesn't appear after adding it: Fully quit and restart your AI client. If a previously working connection stops responding, remove it and re-add it.
Sign-in fails: If your company uses legacy SAML SSO, sign in using Google or direct Culture Amp email/password credentials instead. Ensure you are using tested tools (Claude or ChatGPT).
Assistant states tools are unavailable after signing in: Ask your account administrator to verify that the integration is enabled for your organization. If enabled, open a Support Conversation.
Survey or result is missing/inaccessible: Visibility directly matches your existing permissions in Culture Amp. Contact the survey administrator to adjust access, or open a Support Conversation.
Someone's performance feedback doesn't show up, or says it isn't accessible: this only works for your own feedback, or for people who report directly to you. If you believe it should be accessible and isn't, open a Support Conversation.
Something you asked the assistant to do doesn't appear in Culture Amp: open that conversation in Culture Amp and check it directly. If it didn't save, or doesn't match what you asked for, open a Support Conversation.
FAQ
How do I stop the AI tool from reaching my Culture Amp data?
How do I stop the AI tool from reaching my Culture Amp data?
Removing the Culture Amp connector in the AI tool's own settings stops you using Culture Amp from that tool, but it doesn't end the sign-in you already approved, which stays valid until it expires.
If you need access cut off straight away, contact your account administrator to turn the connection off.
