Action Framework (Legacy experience)

Use Culture Amp's Action framework to act on employee feedback, identify focus areas, explore action ideas, and measure impact.

Written by Jared Ellis

Who can use this feature?

Available on:

  • All Culture Amp subscriptions that include Engagement (excluding Onboarding/Exit Surveys) or Effectiveness

Culture Amp’s Action Framework is a set of tools that helps individuals, teams, and managers turn employee feedback into meaningful action. It empowers people to act confidently and effectively by making it easy to:

  • Identify focus areas that will have the most impact

  • Decide on next steps, with inspiration from other customers and our 40,000+ member People Geek community

  • Drive action without needing to rely solely on HR or senior leadership

  • Gather feedback from their team on the actions taken

⚠️ The Action Framework is no longer available on new surveys.

Action Plans replaces the Action Framework for surveys from 15th October 2026.

Surveys with exisiting actions will remain on the Action Framework so the people working on them can finish what they started.

How it Works

1. Share Reports

HR leaders can share reports directly in the platform. This gives managers and teams access to feedback so they can start identifying areas for improvement.

2. Identify Areas for Impact

Once reports are shared, managers and teams can use the Focus Agent to identify which focus areas have the greatest potential for positive change.

  • For 360 surveys, employees can also review their own reports and highlight key strengths and opportunities by flagging items in their feedback.

3. Create Actions

After choosing focus areas, use the Inspiration Engine to explore ideas from other customers and the People Geek community. This makes it easier to decide which actions will have the most impact.

4. Gather Feedback

  • About a month after implementing actions, managers can use Action Feedback to check in with their team and measure whether the actions are making a difference (not available for 360 Effectiveness surveys).

Viewing and Managing Actions

To access your actions, go to the Action Plans tab. Here you’ll find:

  • Your actions: Actions you’ve created from Engagement or Effectiveness surveys

  • Company actions: Actions created by others on reports shared with you

  • All actionable reports: Reports where you can view or create actions

Admin's Action Dashboard

The Action Dashboard is a set of reports on each survey that uses the Action Framework that empowers users, with relevant permissions, visibility into how managers are engaging with and taking action to address employee feedback.

Who has access?

Where can I find the Action Dashboard?

To access the Action Dashboard within a survey, head to the View Reports page of the survey and open the drop-down menu under Select Report > select Action Dashboard.

You can also access the Action Dashboard from your Action Plans tab > All Actionable Reports view > select View Action Plan next to the relevant survey.

Action Dashboard Overview

The Action Dashboard is an overview of how people are engaging with their reports.

This section represents the percentage of shared reports that have been opened, that have at least one focus question selected, and that have at least one action created. The dashboard highlights where your managers may be struggling in taking action.

By moving your mouse over any of the bar graphs, you can see the number of reports that have completed this step. Clicking on any of the bar graphs will take you to Progress tab which will show you the list of the reports that have completed this step.

Important: The Reports Opened statistic has two important limitations:

1. Participation reports are excluded. Only reports that contain actual results (e.g Insights) are included. Opening a Participation report will not contribute to the Reports Opened percentage, and the report will appear as unopened in the Progress view.

2. Only link-based access is tracked. A stat is only recorded when the report viewer clicks through the official report sharing notification (email, Teams, or Slack link). Viewers who navigate to their report manually within the platform will not be counted as having opened it.

Progress

You can use the tabs at the top of the page to filter the list of reports. You can click on a report name to see who the report was shared with, who opened it, what questions were selected as focus areas, and what actions were created.

Focus areas: Top Questions

This section lists the questions selected as areas of focus. Hovering your mouse over a question will display the number of reports that contain this question as a focus area. Clicking on a question will take you to a list of reports containing this question as a focus area.

The questions will be ordered by the frequency with which they are selected for a report. You can click on any question to see the reports containing this question as a focus area.

Actions: Top Actions

This section lists the inspirations used when creating actions. Hovering your mouse over an action will display the full text of the source inspiration. Clicking on an action will take you to a list of reports containing an action from the source inspiration.

The inspirations will be ordered by the frequency with which they are used for a report. You can click on any inspiration name to see the reports using this inspiration as the source for a new action.

Action Dashboard Export

The Action Dashboard export will provide administrators with a summary of action planning across all shared reports, including actions created and questions selected for focus.

What it includes:

Once you have exported the Action Dashboard, you will receive a sheet with 4 seperate tabs, each holding different data to give you an idea of how people are engaging with shared reports and the action planning process

We currently do not support the ability to share the Action Dashboard with non-administrators; customers can export the Action Dashboard to Excel to share with others.
